A chieftain of the All Progressives
Congress in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ita Awak, has expressed worry over the
internal revolt within the ruling party.
He said it was worrisome that an
appreciable number of APC senators joined hands with the Peoples
Democratic Party senators in both the Senate and the House of
Representatives to elect principal officers for the legislative
chambers.
Speaking with our correspondent in Uyo
on Wednesday, Awak explained that the same scenario that replicated
itself in the APC-led Assembly was what resulted in PDP’s defeat during
the 2015 general election.
“It
is not the emergence of the new leadership in the National Assembly
that is of immediate concern to me. As a chieftain of the APC in my
state, Akwa Ibom, what gives me deep perturbation is the internal revolt
within my party,” he said.
