Unknown
Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has approved the payment of January 2014 salary to civil Servants in the state.

Former Governor Isa Yuguda had refused to pay civil servants the January 2014 salary because they embarked on strike over non-payment of salaries.

But the judiciary workers, teachers and health workers, who refused to join the strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress were paid the month’s salaries at the time.

The state Head of Service, Mr Abdon Gin, said this while briefing newsmen shortly after a meeting between the state Deputy Governor, Nuhu Gidado, and labour leaders in the state on Friday.

He commended the state government for sourcing funds to settle the workers’ May and June 2015 salaries, pointing out that the measure had impacted positively on the lives of the workers.

The Head of Service said the Federal Government had recently allocated N2.9bn to the state government while the 20 Local Government Areas of the state got N2.1bn to enable them to settle outstanding workers’ salaries.

Gin assured the workers in the state that whenever the financial position of the state improved, the outstanding salary of April 2015 would be settled.

The state chairman of NLC, Comrade Hashimu Gital, expressed satisfaction with the effort of the state government towards ensuring the payment of outstanding salary of workers, calling on workers to reciprocate the gesture by showing commitment to their duties.
