The Vice-Chancellor of the Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Prof. Debo Adeyewa, has said that 15 students obtained first class from the institution this year.
The 15 are part of the 447 students who will be passing out from the university at its seventh convocation next Tuesday.
The VC said this in Ede on Monday at a briefing to announce the activities lined up for the convocation.
He said, “We have 15 graduands, who made first class, 135 others had second class upper division while 200 are graduating with second class lower division. Some 97 others fall into the third class and seven in pass categories.
“The set of graduands was admitted to various academic disciplines in the 2011/2012 academic session and took the oath of matriculation in October, 2011.”
Adeyewa lamented that the government had prevented private universities from benefiting from Tertiary Education Trust Fund, saying this was wrong.
He said, “It is not a fair competition when you disallow some people to participate.”
