Ex-Governor Babatunde Fashola of the APC handed over to Ambode on May 29, following the latter’s victory in the April 11 governorship election, which saw the defeat of the PDP’s candidate, Jimi Agbaje.

The state PDP Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, described the ruling All Progressives Congress as defaulting in its campaign promise of change.
According to Gani, the inability of the government to name its cabinet was unbecoming of a party which handed over power to a governor of the same party.
He also said that since President Muhammadu Buhari, who is also an APC member, had given Nigerians till the end of September to announce his ministers, Ambode must name his cabinet by October 1.
He said, “Ambode and the APC’s false prophecy of change have been defeated by the failure of the governor to form his cabinet and turning the state into someone’s private affair. We are not anarchists, so we will not support anything that will further distract Ambode, but we want him to know that the people’s patience can be exhausted and it already is.
“If by October 1, he does not announce his cabinet, the PDP government in Lagos State will announce a parallel cabinet. The absence of a cabinet after over 100 days in office has eroded the confidence the electorate has in politicians. It is even a constitutional aberration because going by the presidential system of government which we have adopted, the law says there must be a cabinet in place.
“The fact that he has not formed a cabinet by this time is an impeachable offence. On the part of governance, it has consequently retarded growth in the state. The people are no longer sure of the policy of governance and we are surprised because it is supposed to be continuity.”
