As the Edo people leave their houses for the polling booths this morning, the air is filled with expectation and apprehension. Many are scared that violence might break out during the elections, yet they have braved the anxiety and queuing at the voting centers.
Here are some pictures of the Edo people and the Edo elections this morning, September 28.

1. High Chief Raymond Dokpesi

Raymond Dokpesi is the CEO of DAAR Communications and he set-up the Nigerian TV network Africa Independent Television or AIT. The business mogul was spotted on the queue at Ward 1 unit 8 Agenebode, Edo state.

2. Massive turnout

The possibility that things might actually turn violent has not stopped the Edo people from turning out enmasse. According to Twitter user, here is the crowd that turned up at Ikpoba-Okha, Edo state.

3. NYSC members to the rescue

The Edo elections real heroes are the youths serving as polling officers under the NYSC scheme. Many of them are in charge of the polling in various wards and have put up a brave face.

4. Security officials on standby

To curb likely violence and maintain orderliness, security officials are ready to help. One Twitter user tweeted this from his own ward:

5. Orderly queues

Orderly queues are a rarity, but Edo citizens seem to be eager to get the elections going smoothly as most of them are queuing up orderly to vote.
